Redevelopment of Piazza Trieste
The intervention concerns the landscaping, lighting and construction of the irrigation system for Piazza Trieste, a historic area of value within the walls of the City of Montagnana, adjacent to Porta Padova and overlooking Castello San Zeno. The Piazza was the subject of a restoration intervention in 2006, as part of a broader redevelopment project of the tourist itinerary around the walls of the city of Montagnana. The green area was in a very poor state of maintenance, with unsuitable vegetation, an obsolete and non-functioning lighting system and portions of trachyte cladding that were detached and dangerous. The project included a new arrangement of the flowerbeds with a mix of herbaceous and Mediterranean plants, alternating in the composition to create a polychrome and dynamic garden thanks to the blooms, the chromatic variations of the plants throughout the seasons and their undulating movement in the wind. The garden is made interesting and more attractive in every season, inviting users and tourists to enter, observe the plants up close and feel enveloped by their scents and colours. As regards the lighting, the project included the complete replacement of the recessed wall-mounted fixtures and bollards with new LED lighting fixtures that allow significant energy savings from a sustainability perspective and provide a more enveloping and striking lighting effect.
