The owner of the Woodland area, Kioene SPA, wanted to create this private woodland in the Campodarsego area, converting the use of land that until then had been intended for agricultural use to create a woodland with an environmental and social function. A tangible sign of the philosophy of the Kioene company, which aims to pay greater attention to the environment in order to restore a balance with nature, a balance that has long been compromised in our territories of the Venetian plain. The area, with its extension of 5 ha, aims to optimise the quality of air and water and the functionality of the biological-territorial system, also understood as a place and tool for recreation and psychophysical recovery. The presence of a woodland with hedgerow strips and fruit-bearing shrubs along the margins allows for an increase in biodiversity and the implementation of ecological corridors. In a context of strong simplification of the rural system, where even hedges have mostly been eliminated due to mechanisation and the maximum exploitation of the territory, this place seeks to reactivate biodiversity through the creation of new potential habitats that may concern a large number of plant and animal species, from soil microfauna to birds and mammals. The wooded area will have areas with differentiated botanical composition, always using tree and shrub species typical of the local lowland flora. Three types of “woodland” have been planned: lowland, wildlife and riparian. The “lowland” and the “wildlife” woodland, the latter rich in tree and shrub species that produce many berry fruits, will have the purpose of creating a correlation between the territory and the large intervention area, ensuring that in the future wildlife can find sustenance within this tree formation. The “riparian woodland” type is composed of woody species typical of lowland river areas, thus making its botanical composition ideal for the area where a depression in the ground was planned, generating a semi-wet area that is submerged during certain periods. This point of the woodland becomes a suitable resting place for birds. The composition was designed to give the woodland a natural effect while at the same time allowing easy maintenance and mowing during the first years of life.
